Day 6: June 3rd 2019

On a whim and from the recommendation of many many friends, we decided to spend one of our Grand Canyon days touring the nearby town of Sedona, AZ.  It is located only 1 hour from Williams, with most of the drive being extremely scenic.

It was difficult to decide exactly what to do once we arrived, because honestly there is so much beauty, one day wasn’t enough.  I think we will likely plan a week long stay at this beautiful location sometime in the future.

Cody was able to come along for the day and I we were all thrilled to learn how exceptionally dog friendly the town of Sedona is in almost every respect.  All the shops and restaurants encourage dogs to come, most have menus and all offer water.  Along the streets they have huge bowls of ice water every block.  Because it is so hot, leaving a pet in the car isn’t an option, so we really did appreciate the cities views on our canine friends. Cody was such a hit he had about 10 different groups of people ask to take his photo or do a selfie with my boy. The only hiccup was that several of the state parks did not allow dogs.  I suppose it was good in a way, because it allowed us to limit what we would attempt to see.

We did some hiking, stream wading, eating, shopping, and had the pleasure of viewing the exceptionally beautiful Chapel of the Holy Cross built into the stones.

Again, if we were planning another trip, we would give Sedona more time, as the area deserves long, leisurely look.
